A 2014 CNN news story talks about a seven year old Afghan girl Naghma Muhammad who was married off by her father at age six in order for him to pay his wife's medical bills. Luckily for Naghma, U.S. groups found out about the situation and intervened with money from an anonymous donor to stop the marriage from happening.
